SCBWI

I had the pleasure of attending the Oklahoma Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators conference in the spring. It's time for the national event in LA. I really wish I could have made it, but LA is so far away and work, etc, prohibits that journey! What an awesome organization. If you are a beginning writer or an established one, this is a group you need to associate with. I'm posting a link for some author interviews about SCBWI. KSBI TV 52 Interview

I was blessed with the opportunity to do a quick interview on Oklahoma Live! with host, Lyn Hester on Thursday. (Also, Drew from KISS FM).  I think everything went pretty smoothly. Lyn is great at what she does and makes everyone feel right at home.

We got there, signed in, and were sent to the green room to wait. Why do they call it the green room? It's just a beige room with a tv, couches and a water cooler. Maybe there's some special reason for the name that I am not aware of.  If you know, send me a message.

Anyway, while my support staff (Tony) and I were waiting, Lyn came in to introduce herself.  She told me how happy she was that I was there and gave me a big hug. We discussed the book briefly and then she went to start the show and I waited for my turn.  My nerves were really going and then they called my name.  We quietly walked into the studio because the show was on air in the corner.  Other than that area, the room was pretty dark. There was a beautiful kitchen in one corner where they do the cooking segment and the musical guest was in the other corner. When they broke for commercial, I quickly had to get to the sofa and get settled in.  The commercial ended and we were on!  We talked for a few minutes and before I knew it, it was over.  Another commercial started and Lyn gave me a hug, thanked me for coming,  and wished me well with my book. Wow! It was fast and amazing!

Updates are nearly finished!

I've been working, very slowly, I might add, to update my blog.  It's been a learning experience for me. I have virtually no computer skills and I figured out how to add different pages and links. I am proud of myself. Tony didn't help me at all. I think he pushed me into a new learning experience. If he hadn't done that, I would have just told him what I wanted and waited for him to put it together. Kudos to me!

Check out the pages...hopefully, it all works!
